Cloud Security Alliance

Technology is a difficult animal to handle. Often times, it outpaces our ability to manage and control it. This can create something of a Wild Wild West, where laws, standards and practices play catch up and sometimes it seems like anything goes. It is during this initial chaotic period that there can be mixed and poorly defined standards and practices. The Cloud began as such an animal. In 2008, a group of industry leading security practitioners issued a call to action for securing cloud computing. Out of that call was born the Cloud Security Alliance or CSA. The CSA is an organization whose mission is to ‘promote the use of best practices for providing security assurance within Cloud Computing and provide education on the uses of Cloud Computing to help secure all other forms of computing.’

Cloud services can be categorized into three areas, IaaS, PaaS and SaaS. The security considerations, needs and requirements are different for each. Today, many companies are considering whether or not a cloud solution is appropriate for their business, and when they do, loss of control and security are two of their leading concerns. Plainly, there is a tremendous need for clear and commonly accepted security standards in the cloud services market. CSA is setting those standards, and is rapidly becoming recognized as the leader in defining standards for both customers and providers operating in the Cloud.

NICE understands the importance of a recognized set of standards for itself and the cloud services industry. We believe in the value this can offer to us and our customers and have joined the Cloud Security Alliance. As a CSA member, we will be engaged in CSA research and work groups, contributing to the creation of those practices that will become part of the cloud services future. We are also utilizing CSA standards and best practices to benchmark our own operations and services, to ensure that our company and its products develop in line with cloud services best practices.

The Trust Department and NICE are working to ensure that you can confidently utilize our suite of services. By adopting CSA standards and contributing to future CSA projects, NICE will continue to be the leading provider of hosted contact center solutions.
