Six Super Smart Things You Can Do to Ensure Business Continuity

There is Disaster Recovery and there is Business Continuity.  If you’re a business that wants to keep the calls rolling in no matter what happens in the world around you, you should care a lot about both. Below are a few tips from some people that are a lot tech savvier than me to help you both prepare and survive a natural disaster or man-made outage:

  • Leverage technology that is geographically redundant and can adapt on the fly. Cloud-based solutions are much more agile than premise-based systems−they can change on demand and aren’t dependent on a single location.
  • If you know a storm is coming or a flood is looming, move your agents to safe location and re-route calls to your back-up location or your agents’ homes.
  • Make sure you have flexible connectivity options – this ensures that you get calls to agents even if some options are failing.
  • Scalability – make sure that your provider can scale you up immediately should you need to add more capacity.
  • Make sure your provider of choice has 24/7/365 network monitoring and customer support. This ensures you will be taken care of, regardless of the time of day or day of the week.
  • System Health Checks – do them often to make sure everything is working as it should.  Make sure your technology providers do them too.
